Things Unmentioned At The Nintendo Press Conference
Published on January 01, 0001
These are the things we thought Nintendo would mention yesterday at their E3 2009 press conference, but didn’t: Virtual Console For The DSi: We were almost
positive that Nintendo would be expanding the DSi store with downloadable classics for the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, but apparently Nintendo isn’t quite ready to plumb that particular revenue stream.(new Image()).src = 'https://capi.connatix.com/tr/si?token=995c4c7d-194f-4077-b0a0-7ad466eb737c&cid=872d12ce-453b-4870-845f-955919887e1b'; cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "995c4c7d-194f-4077-b0a0-7ad466eb737c" }).render("79703296e5134c75a2db6e1b64762017"); }); Games That Take Advantage Of The DSi’s Power: The Nintendo DSi is a bit more powerful than the Nintendo DS, but they’ve yet to present us with any DSi-specific cartridge-based titles that take full advantage of this. Retro Studios: Nintendo’s main studio in the United States has made some superbly well-reviewed Metroid games and is polishing a compilation disc of all three that they made. So maybe it was time, we thought, for Nintendo to tell us at E3 2009 what Retro is doing joy rummy next? No dice.
Shigeru Miyamoto: We know
Shiggy was at the conference; why didn’t he show up for the press conference?
Do we smell? Don’t answer that. Kind Code: Can we talk about Nintendo’s new difficulty-shifting technology erroneously christened “Kind Code”? We can? We will! Oh wait, no we won’t.
https://kotaku.com/nintendo-patent-reveals-potential-paradigm-shift-in-des-5127251 New Zelda: We were hoping for a big announcement of a new Zelda game for the Nintendo Wii, but we’ll rummy new app just have to settle for Miyamoto’s assurances for now.
https://kotaku.com/miyamoto-addresses-zeldas-e3-absence-5276495 Kid Icarus: Long-rumored, desperately hoped for, and once again absent from any sort of announcement. Proof that a large group of people desperately wanting to believe in something doesn’t make it true. I rummy nobel don’t know how organized religion does it. Pikmin 3: No new Pikmin? Miyamoto says he’s sorry. https://kotaku.com/miyamoto-sorry-he-has-no-new-pikmin-for-us-yet-5276531 Did Nintendo omit anything you were expecting? WiiWare: Where, oh where, was the WiiWare? While Nintendo didn’t put a big emphasis on WiiWare at the conference, their official press release did list several games, many of which have been mentioned previously – Bit.Trip.Core, Swords and Soldiers, Cave Story – pretty exciting games that we suppose they just didn’t have time to show off.

Some games take a while to load on mobile, but once they start, the gameplay is smooth and exciting. I hope future updates improve mobile performance, but I still enjoy playing several hours a day.
